Variety Positioning
- Craft is the number-one winter malting barley. It has performed consistently over
the past three years in Agrii trials with high treated (98%) and untreated (80%) yields and good specific weight (67.1 kg/hl). It has full approval for malting, and is preferred by the maltsters for its relatively high malt extract (308 l deg/kg), and it can produce similar low nitrogen levels (1.66%) to its predecessor, SY Venture.
- Suitable for all regions of the UK, it performs best on lighter soils (96%). It is relatively tall (89 cm) with an official lodging rating of 7.6 but Agrii results show that it is still at medium risk of lodging, even when treated with a PGR programme. Mid-late maturity.
- Good all-round disease resistance against Mildew, Brown Rust, Net Blotch in Agrii trials and good Rhynchosporium (6) resistance from official trials.
Resistant to Barley Yellow Mosaic Virus.
