Variety Positioning

Very high output hybrid barley.
Highest specific weight and lowest screenings of any 6-row type.

This has become a very popular hybrid across the UK.
High yields (104% treated, 80% untreated) in Agrii trials over the past three years.

  • It also has the lowest screening losses of any 6-row type in official trials and a high specific weight (70.9 kg/hl).
  • Ideal for use on lower potential sites, lighter soils, situations where grassweeds are a problem and increasingly used for anaerobic digestion.
  • Very stable performance across all regions and soil types.
  • Best drilled from late September through to mid-October.
  • Very competitive against grassweeds.
  • Tall straw (111 cm untreated, 104 cm treated).
  • Stem stiffness is on the low side (7 treated, 6 untreated) and it is still prone to lodging even after a robust PGR programme.
  • It has a higher lodging risk than both SY Armadillo and Belfry.
  • Medium maturity (0).
  • Good disease resistance with mildew (7) (6) and net blotch (5) (7), Rhynchosporium (6) (7), but weak against brown rust (5) (4).
  • Resistant to barley yellow mosaic virus.
