Variety Positioning

The highest yielding 2-row barley on the UK Recommended List.
Excellent grain quality and grassweed competitiveness.

  • Top of the UK Recommended List in terms of yield and similar strong performance in Agrii trials (102% treated, 91% untreated) in 2022.
  • It also has the boldest grain (71.8 kg/hl, AHDB) of any of the newer varieties. It looks to be a promising variety that combines the genetics of two of the most successful barley breeders over the past few years, KWS and Limagrain.
  • Consistent across all soils and regions with particularly strong performance in the East (109%).
  • Agronomically, it is sound with an average height (85 cm treated, 93 cm untreated), reasonably stiff (7), medium lodging risk and mid-maturity (0).
  • Early indications suggest that it has a better grassweed competitiveness than most other 2-row barley varieties.
  • Disease resistance also looks promising with mildew (7) (7), brown rust (6), Rhynchosporium (6) and net blotch (5).
  • Resistant to barley yellow mosaic virus.
