Helping farmers connect field research, digital tools and practical agronomy.
Farming decisions are becoming more data-informed.
Satellite imagery, sensors, mapping and predictive tools can all help improve understanding of crop performance and field variability. But technology on its own does not improve outcomes.
The value comes from knowing how to interpret that information and apply it practically on farm.
The Smart Connected Farm brings together Agrii research, digital agronomy and field experience to help support more informed decisions across the farming system.

Across the country, growers are already using digital tools, data and agronomic support to improve decision making on farm.
Working with Agrii, farmers are using technologies such as soil mapping, variable rate application, crop monitoring and digital planning tools to target inputs more accurately, improve consistency across fields and make better use of available resources.
From reducing nutrient applications on high-index soils to improving crop performance in lower-yielding areas, these approaches are delivering measurable benefits under real commercial farming conditions.
The case studies featured here show how growers are putting connected farming into practice, combining local knowledge with digital insight to improve efficiency, support stewardship requirements and strengthen business performance.

Research and Trials
Technology only becomes useful when it proves itself in the field.
Agrii trials and Digital Technology Farm work are helping assess where connected technologies can improve crop performance, nitrogen use efficiency and gross margin.
Some of our early work has shown:
- +0.82 t/ha wheat yield improvement
- -15% nitrogen input costs
- +12% improvement in nitrogen use efficiency
- -23% CO₂e reduction
- +£137/ha gross margin improvement
These results come from practical field-scale trials under commercial farming conditions.

Exploring the connected farm
The connected farm will look different for every business.
The aim is not to adopt technology for its own sake, but to better understand crops, inputs, risk and performance.
Through research, trials and practical agronomy, Agrii is helping assess where connected farming approaches can support more informed decisions across UK farming systems.
