Agrii advisers complete soil and environmental training to benefit customers
A Commitment to Environmental Excellence
In a significant stride towards sustainable farming practices, nearly 200 Agrii agronomists and crop input specialists have completed comprehensive environmental training.
This initiative not only aligns with regulatory compliance but also positions our Agrii advisers as catalysts for promoting biodiversity and sustainable practices across customer farms and estates.
Diverse Training Portfolio: Nurturing Expertise
This dedicated training complements the BASIS Crop Protection and FACTS courses that are integral to the skill set of all Agrii advisers.
Additionally, almost 100 professionals have delved into courses focusing on soil care, while 150 have enriched their knowledge through sustainability courses.
This diverse training portfolio ensures that our advisers are well-prepared to navigate the complexities of modern agriculture.
Meeting Industry Challenges: Equipping Advisers for the Future
Amy Watkins, Agrii Sustainability Manager, underscores the significance of this training in preparing advisers for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. She highlights the alignment of this initiative with the soil health actions outlined in the Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI), emphasizing its role in capturing revenue opportunities linked to carbon sequestration.
A Foundation for Sustainable Practices: Addressing Industry Developments
The training, conducted internally by Amy Watkins and Paul Pickford, Agrii Business Management Consultant, integrates an online BASIS course for certification. Amy Watkins emphasizes that this training lays the foundation to address critical questions and implement measures such as the soil health aspects of the SFI.
Rigorous Certification: Elevating Professional Standards
The courses maintain a rigorous standard, certified by BASIS. We are in collaboration with BASIS to develop higher-level courses that contribute towards a BASIS diploma in Crop Protection.
Amy Watkins highlights the ongoing efforts to align courses with future advisory and compliance needs, including a focus on understanding greenhouse gas emissions from agriculture.
Practical Exposure: Bridging Theory and Reality
Beyond the theoretical knowledge, the courses include in-field training and farm visits. These visits, such as those to biodiversity projects by conservation groups, provide practical insights into the impact of diverse farming methods on wildlife and environmental outcomes.
