KWS Dawsum

Breeder: KWS Breeder PDF
Type: Hard Feed Pedigree: KWS Kerrin x Costello

Variety Positioning

  • High yields (103% treated, 95% untreated) with very bold grain in both Agrii trials (77.8 kg/hl) and official trials (80.2 kg/hl). It may also be accepted into low grade flour blends.
  • Suitable across the UK, excluding areas of high sterility risk until more information is available. It can be sown from mid-September through to December but it is best sown as a first wheat at this stage.
  • A high tillering variety of medium height (83 cm) and with reasonably stiff straw (7 treated, 5 untreated). Its grassweed competitiveness is still being evaluated in Agrii trials. Medium-late maturity (+3).
  • Excellent disease profile against mildew (8.1), yellow rust (7.9), brown rust (9.0) and Septoria tritici (6.2). Not resistant to orange wheat blossom midge. Still a candidate but seed production was accelerated by KWS so limited quantities may be available this autumn.
