|Breeder: Elsoms Ackermann||Download pdf|
|Type: Potential Distilling (Scotland)||Pedigree: Chanson x Acorn|
- A very high yielding spring barley (107% treated, 95% untreated) with provisional approval for distilling on the SRUC Recommended List but it did not perform quite as well in Agrii’s Northern trials (101% treated, 92% untreated) over the past two years.
- Specific weight is on the low side (66.4 kg/hl) similar to Laureate with typically low nitrogen levels (1.46%). Low skinning has also attracted a lot of interest.
Consistent performance across all regions. Relatively short (71 cm), reasonably stiff straw (7), good brackling resistance (8) and medium-early maturity.
- A reasonable disease resistance package with a high rating for mildew (9) but Rhynchosporium (5) and brown rust (4) are less than average. It is moderately susceptible to net blotch in Agrii’s trials.
