Farm Saved Seed Operator

We are looking to recruit a Farm Saved Seed (FSS) Operator / Engineer to join our team at Hixon on a full time, permanent basis. The role will involve travelling from our site to customer farms, maintaining and running plant based machinery and working closely with customers and colleagues alike. Successful candidates will be highly self motivated with a desire to succeed with extremely busy seasonal business. You will also be responsible for maintaining FSS Machinery to ensure it is fit for purpose.

What you’ll do:

• You will be responsible for maintaining FSS Machinery to ensure it is fit for purpose.
• Operate seed cleaning and treatment machinery.
• Travel to farm sites to process farm saved seed.
• Work closely with customers to meet their requirements.
• Work flexibly to meet seasonal demand, including overtime during peak periods.

What you’ll bring:

• Some experience in agriculture, farming, or machine operation (essential).
• Strong communication skills and a proactive, reliable approach to teamwork.
• A genuine interest in the agricultural sector.
• HGV, PA1 &PA11 would be an advantage however relevant training will be provided.
• Willingness to undertake manual handling and outdoor work in all weather.
• Flexibility to travel across the region and work extended hours during busy times.
