Farm Saved Seed Assistant

We are looking to recruit a Farm Saved Seed (FSS) Assistant to join our team at Wigtoft on a permanent basis. Working alongside a Unit Operator, our next FSS Assistant will help deliver an efficient Farm Saved Seed service to customers in the local area. This is a practical, hands-on role, ideally suited to someone with experience or interest in farming or machinery and a positive, team-focused attitude.

What you’ll do:

• Prepare FSS machines, equipment, and materials ahead of scheduled jobs.
• Travel to farm sites, assist in machine setup, prepare bags, labels, and other necessary equipment.
• Monitor seed dressing application and bag-filling process, record production, and ensure quality standards are met.
• Assist in cleaning and resetting the machine between varieties to avoid contamination.
• Carry out daily vehicle checks and adhere to all FEPA, COSHH, and environmental standards.
• Support end-of-job site clean-up and machine pack-down.
• Work flexibly to meet seasonal demand, including overtime during peak periods.

What you’ll bring:

• Some experience in agriculture, farming, or machine operation (essential).
• Strong communication skills and a proactive, reliable approach to teamwork.
• A genuine interest in the agricultural sector.
• A counterbalance forklift licence (desirable, but not essential).
• Willingness to undertake manual handling and outdoor work in all weather. 
• Flexibility to travel across the region and work extended hours during busy times.
