Agrii Develops Special Crop Marketing Service with Key Appointment
Experienced grain marketeer, Paul Crump is to head-up an innovative crop marketing service being developed by research-led agronomy specialist, Agrii to provide UK customers with the best, unbiased information, advice and support to make the most of modern arable markets.
With 28 years in the grain trade, most recently as commercial director of Wynnstay Group’s grain trading division GrainLink, Paul has taken up his post as Agrii Head of Crop Marketing in the past month. In this role he is leading the development of a service the company fully intends will be as valuable to famers as its established agronomy, seed and input supply businesses.
As well as offering personalised and unbiased crop marketing information and advice in parallel to the company’s other arable support services, he will be working closely with crop buyers across the UK and beyond to establish more secure routes to market for Agrii customers through an expansion of its crop marketing hubs and external trading relationships.
“I’m thrilled to be taking-up this exciting challenge,” comments Paul Crump. “UK farmers have such a lot to gain from stronger relationships with end users and better-informed marketing decisions in today’s particularly volatile crop markets. Especially so as economic and climatic uncertainties grow.
“To make the most of the many opportunities available they need the very best, unbiased intelligence at their fingertips, together with guidance tailor-made for their own particular production and business circumstances. Unlike so many of today’s sources of information and advice, this is precisely what our new service will be offering as we roll it out over the coming months.
“In exclusive collaboration with leading world agricultural trade expert, Dan Basse and his AgResource advisory business in Chicago we are planning an up-to-the-minute market intelligence service for our customers from this winter as well as running regular events to increase their understanding of the changing status of the fundamental drivers of their most important markets.”
With the company’s seed team, Paul Crump will also be taking the greatest possible advantage of Agrii’s unrivalled expertise in crop variety research and close working relationships with leading European plant breeders to extend and develop its range of grower contracts for specific markets.
He and the Agrii team will be tailor-making these contracts to the requirements and resources of individual customers as well as end user needs, fully supported by variety-specific agronomy from the country’s most extensive field evaluation programme.
At the same time, they will be working with primary Agrii marketing partners, Glencore and Scotgrain to make the most of the businesses’ available storage and grain processing facilities to deliver the most reliable as well as best all-round grower returns.
