Variety Positioning

• A Group 2 bread with ukp for export that has also attracted interest as a feed wheat, due to its high yields, outstanding Septoria resistance and bold grain (79.4 kg/hl).
• Suitable for all regions of the UK except areas of high sterility risk.
• Consistent across soil types with good performance on lighter soils.
• A fast-developing variety best drilled from the last week of September through to the end of December, but it can be drilled to the end of January where necessary.
• Acceptable second wheat performance and average competitiveness against grassweeds.
• With tall straw, care is needed particularly on more fertile soils as stem stiffness (7.6) (6.0) could be better and a robust PGR programme should be used.
• It is early to mature (-1)(-2).
• Excellent disease resistance with a very strong rating for Septoria tritici (7.8) (7.1), yellow rust (8) (7.5) and brown rust (6.3) (5.2).
• The juvenile stage of yellow rust may be seen before GS32 and eyespot (3.7) will need attention in a second wheat situation. Not resistant to orange wheat blossom midge.
