Variety Positioning

• KWS Tardis remains a significant variety in the UK and the second most widely grown.  

• It is liked by growers for its consistently high yields in Agrii trials (100% treated, 79% untreated), reasonable specific weight (70.6 kg/hl) and very stiff straw.

• Suitable for all regions and soils with particularly strong performance on heavy soils (105%) in official trials.

• Relatively tall straw (86 cm treated, 95 cm untreated), stiff straw (8 treated, 8 untreated) and good brackling resistance.

• Like most 2-row varieties, KWS Tardis has shown relatively poor grassweed competitiveness in Stow Longa trials.

• Medium-early maturity in Agrii trials. Average disease resistance against mildew (RL 5; Agrii 4), Rhynchosporium (RL 6; Agrii 7), net blotch (RL 5; Agrii 6) and brown rust (RL 6; Agrii 4).

• Resistant to barley mild mosaic and yellow mosaic virus (strain 1).
