Breeder: KWS UK Breeder PDF
Type: Group 2 Milling, ukp Export & Feed Pedigree: Boisseau x Solheio

Variety Positioning

  • Now firmly established as the UK’s leading winter wheat variety. Consistently high yielding in Agrii trials over the past three years (106%, treated, 97% untreated). A Group 2 bread with ukp for export that has also attracted interest as a feed wheat, due to its high yields, outstanding Septoria resistance and bold grain.
  • Suitable for all regions of the UK except areas of high sterility risk. Consistent across soil types with good performance on lighter soils. A fast-developing variety best drilled from the last week of September through to the end of December, but it can be drilled to the end of January where necessary. Average second wheat performance and average competitiveness against grassweeds.
  • Tall straw with relatively weak straw (5 untreated, 6 treated) so a robust PGR programme is important especially on more fertile soils. It is early to mature (-2).
  • Excellent disease resistance in Agrii trials against Septoria tritici (6.9), yellow rust (7.5) and brown rust (6.6). The juvenile stage of yellow rust may be seen before GS32 and eyespot will need attention in a second wheat situation. Monitor and spray as appropriate for orange wheat blossom midge.
