Agrii appoints new Managing Director

Chris Tye succeeds Ronan Hughes, who progresses to become Managing Director of Origin’s Ireland and UK Agriculture Division.

Agrii has announced that Chris Tye has been promoted to Managing Director of Agrii UK, effective 1st August. He succeeds Ronan Hughes, who moves into a new role for Agrii’s parent organisation, Origin, that will oversee the running of its agriculture businesses across Ireland and the UK, including Agrii UK.

Chris joined Agrii five years ago as Head of Fertiliser and has taken on progressively broader responsibilities, most recently becoming its Commercial Director.

"I am incredibly proud to be taking on the role of Managing Director of Agrii UK at such an important time for our business and our industry,” says Chris. “Having spent the last five years working alongside talented colleagues across the organisation, I've seen first hand the dedication, expertise and innovation that make Agrii unique.

“Agrii has a proud heritage of leading the way in agricultural innovation, and I believe we have a tremendous opportunity to build on that strength. By combining our industry leading R&D, digital tools and expert advice, we can support our customers in driving sustainable, profitable and resilient farming businesses for the future.”

Ronan had been Agrii’s Managing Director since 2010, when Agrii was formed following Origin's acquisition of UAP and Masstock, creating the UK’s largest agronomy services provider. His tenure has seen significant investment into the UK business, most notably the expansion of its research facilities at its Throws Farm Technology Centre in Essex, including the new £1m glasshouse in 2025.

“I would like to thank Ronan Hughes for his leadership and support,” continues Chris. “I look forward to continuing to work closely with him in his new role. Together, we will ensure Agrii remains focused on delivering value for our customers and helping UK agriculture thrive in a challenging environment."
