Variety Positioning
-
The highest yielding variety in both AHDB (107%) and Agrii trials (118%) with a high oil content (46%) (47.8%).
-
Its performance is slightly ahead of its sister variety, Vegas, probably as a result of the additional Turnip Yellows Virus resistance trait.
-
The European-wide breeder, NPZ, has come to the fore in recent years with improved disease traits and better late-season stem health.
-
Suitable for all soils with its best performance is in the East and West regions of the UK.
-
It has shown good autumn (8.0) and spring vigour (7.0) in Agrii trials over the past three years and the ability to withstand CSFB larval attack.
-
Relatively tall (159 cm) but it has a very stiff canopy (8). It had medium maturity (5) (6).
-
Disease resistance includes a good light leaf spot rating (7) (6.5) and a combination of RLMs and RLM7 stem canker resistance (8) (9).
-
It appears tolerant of Verticillium stem stripe in both AHDB and Agrii trials but does not carry the pod-shatter resistance trait preferred by many growers.
