Variety Positioning

• Despite its weakness to yellow rust, SY Insitor continues to be a popular variety because of its suitability for late drilling, second wheat and light land situations.  

• It is considered as a high input, high output variety with very high yields (105% treated, 65% untreated) and bold grain (78.6 kg/hl).

• Suitable for all regions and soil types and can be drilled from the end of September through to the end of January.  

• Straw is tall (95 cm) and relatively weak, treated (RL 7; Agrii 5) and untreated (RL 6; Agrii 3) so a decent PGR programme is essential.

• Medium maturity (RL+1; Agrii +2).

• Yellow rust resistance is effectively broken (RL 4; Agrii 3), so too brown rust (RL 5; Agrii 3) but it retains reasonable mildew (RL 6; Agrii 6) and Septoria tritici (RL 7; Agrii 7) resistance.

• It is very susceptible to stem-base diseases so these need to be controlled, especially in a second wheat situations.  

• Resistant to orange wheat blossom midge.
