Variety Positioning

• Oxford shares the same parents as Champion and has similar high yields (103% treated, 77% untreated) but an improved specific weight (76.0 kg/hl) and stiffer straw.

• Best grown in the East and West regions on heavy soil and drilled before the end of December.

• Average height (86 cm) and stiffness (6 treated, 5 untreated) and slightly later to mature than Champion (+1).

• Acceptable second wheat performance but susceptible to stem-base diseases so these need to be controlled.

• Disease resistance is similar to Champion with mildew (5), yellow rust (2), Septoria tritici (5) and brown rust (5).  

• Resistant to orange wheat blossom midge.
