Variety Positioning

• A relatively new biscuit that came on to the UK Recommended List a year behind Bamford.  

• It has very high yields in both official (106% treated, 87% untreated) and Agrii trials over the past two years (107% treated, 81% untreated).  

• Average physical grain quality (76.8 kg/hl) and lower HFN (179s) so it should be given priority at harvest.  

• Its best performance has been in the west (107% treated) and north (106% treated) in AHDB trials.

• It is rated ‘High’ for distilling and provisionally approved for export under uks.

• Suitable for all soil types and regions of the UK and the main drilling window through to the end of December.  

• It is an acceptable second wheat trials suggest that it is still best grown as a first wheat as it is susceptible to stem base diseases.

• It has a strong spring growth habit and is moderately tall (91 cm) but relatively weak even treated (RL 6; Agrii 6) so a robust PGR programme is essential.

• Medium-early maturity (RL 0; Agrii +1).

  Average disease resistance against mildew (5), yellow rust (RL 6; Agrii 5) and Septoria tritici (RL 6; Agrii 7) but weaker against brown rust (RL 5; Agrii 4) and eyespot (4.8).

• Resistant to orange wheat blossom midge.
