Hurler
A very high yielding feed type that is straightforward to manage with exceptionally stiff straw. Ideal for growers not looking for a malting contract.
- Hurler was added to the UK Recommended List in 2023 and has consistently been one of the highest yielding varieties in Agrii trials (106% England, 104 % Scotland).
- Grain quality is on the lower end (67.1 kg/hl) but its screenings are in line with other feed types (1.5% through 2.25 mm and 4.0% through 2.5 mm screens).
- It has given high yields across all regions and soil types and is straightforward to manage.
- Relatively short (66 cm) and very stiff straw (8 untreated, 8 treated), outstanding brackling resistance (RL 8, Agrii 9).
- It has medium maturity (+1). Hurler shows excellent mildew resistance (8), good Rhynchosporium resistance (RL 6, Agrii 5) and moderate resistance to net blotch (7). However resistance to brown rust is weak (RL 5, Agrii 4) and may require attention.
