✚ High yields and excellent grain quality
✚ Vigorous variety with relatively early maturity

Variety Positioning

• Remains a significant Group 2 variety offering high yields and good physical grain quality (79.1 kg/hl).  

• Its national acreage has reduced following the introduction of KWS Arnie and KWS Palladium but it continues to produce consistently high yields in AHDB (102% treated, 90% untreated) and Agrii trials (99%, treated, 80% untreated).

• It offers some the opportunity for blending premiums or and option to export under ukp but it is mainly grown for the feed heap.

• Suitable for all regions of the UK except areas of high sterility risk.

• Consistent across soil types with good performance on lighter soils.

• A fast-developing variety best sown from the last week of September through to the end of December, but it can be drilled to the end of January if desired.

• Best grown as a first wheat and average competitiveness against grassweeds.

• With tall straw (93 cm), care is needed particularly on more fertile soils as stem stiffness (RL 7; Agrii 5) could be better and a robust PGR programme should be used.

• It is early to mature (RL -1; Agrii -1).

• Disease resistance is starting to come under pressure with lower ratings in Agrii trials for Septoria tritici (RL 7; Agrii 5) and yellow rust (RL 7; Agrii 4), while brown rust (RL 7; Agrii 7) and mildew remain robust (RL 6; Agrii 7).

• The juvenile stage of yellow rust may be seen before GS32. It is also highly susceptible to stem base diseases and eyespot (4) so it needs attention particularly in a second wheat situation

• Not resistant to orange wheat blossom midge.
