Trials Officer

We are looking to employ a Trials Officer, for our Throws Farm Site, located in Dunmow.

As a Trials Officer, you will play a pivotal role in the delivery of industry-leading trials across a variety of crops, contributing to the advancement of sustainable food production.

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of trial operations, adhering to ORETO standards, and closely following protocol guidelines. This will involve conducting various practical tasks such as drilling, applications, maintenance, assessments, and data collection, ultimately producing valuable data to support both technical and commercial operations.

Additional Responsibilities Include:

  • Collaborate closely with the Trials Operations & Site Manager to plan trial operations and prioritize workload.
  • Take ownership of individual trials, ensuring adherence to protocol specifications and accountability for data integrity.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with key grower contacts to optimize trial site placements.
  • Participate in all practical field operations, from site finding to harvest, ensuring precise execution of tasks.
  • Identify crop growth stages accurately for timely applications and assess weed, pest, and disease levels for product efficacy evaluation.
  • Communicate trial progress effectively to Technical Managers, highlighting key observations and addressing any issues.
  • Maintain trial equipment, ensuring calibration and upkeep while keeping records updated.
  • Participate in open day events, coordinating site setups and participating in plot tours as needed.
  • Collaborate with R&D teams on crop protection, fertilizer, and variety trials work.

Skills, Qualifications, and Experience required:

  • HGV Licence would be beneficial, but not essential.
  • Agricultural experience, or an agricultural qualification would be beneficial.
  • High level of organization with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Flexibility to adapt to seasonal needs and workload demands.
  • An interest in the agriculture sector is essential.
