Breeder: SyngentaPrintable PDF
Type: 6-row FeedHybrid Barley

Variety Positioning

  • The best of the two new candidate hybrids from Syngenta as it is the stiffest and a potential successor to or to sit alongside Belfry. High treated (107%) yields in official trials and a good specific weight (69.5 kg/hl). Tested for the first time this year in Agrii’s trials.
  • Suitable for all regions of the UK and all soil types and best drilled in the main drilling wind through to the middle of October. Like all hybrid barley varieties, it is likely to be very competitive against grass weeds but this is still being confirmed in trials.
  • Similar height to Bazooka (112 cm) but stiffer (8) so this will be attractive to growers who have struggled to keep their Hybrid crops standing. A robust PGR programme is still advised. It has relatively early maturity (0) similar to Belfry.
  • It has relatively good disease resistance against Mildew (5), Brown Rust (5), Rhynchosporium (7) and Net Blotch (8) in official trials. These rating will be verified in Agrii’s trials this season. The good disease ratings are reflected in relatively high untreated yields (85%). Resistant to Barley Yellow Mosaic Virus.
