Breeder: RAGT Printable PDF
Type: Group 4, Hard Feed Pedigree: (Scout x Oakley) X KWS Santiago

Variety Positioning

  • The highest yielding wheat on the AHDB Recommended List and consistently high yields in Agrii’s trials. Accelerated by RAGT and pre-launched last autumn so there are commercial crops in the ground. It has ‘Santiago-like’ grain quality in Agrii’s trials with relatively low specific weight (72.5 kg/hl). Like Santiago it should be considered as a high input wheat with average disease resistance and lower untreated yields.
  • Suitable for all regions of the UK and all soil types. It has a very slow speed of development especially in the spring and consequently has shown poor black-grass competiveness at Agrii’s Stow Longa site. Agrii do not recommend it for early drilling. It is relatively tall with average standing in Agrii’s trials (5 untreated, 6 treated) so it needs robust PGR programme. Medium maturity.
  • Weaker on Brown Rust (4.7) and Septoria tritici (4.7) than its official ratings and also appears moderately susceptible to Fusarium ear blight. Second wheat performance looks good in spite of a low resistance rating for Eyespot.
  • Resistant to Orange Wheat Blossom Midge.
