KWS Palladium

Breeder: KWS UK Breeder PDF
Type: Group 2 Milling & Feed Pedigree: KWS Zyatt x KWS Trinity

Variety Positioning

  • Looks like a good partner to grow alongside KWS Extase with similar high yields (103% treated, 96% untreated) but with a slightly lower specific weight (76.9 kg/hl AHDB). Accepted by the millers as a Group 2-type but not approved for ukp export.
  • Suitable for all regions but high sterility risk areas should be avoided until more information is available. Performs well across soil types and is an acceptable choice as a second wheat. It can be drilled slightly earlier than KWS Extase starting no earlier than the last week of September.
  • Short (84 cm) and stiff (7 treated, 7 untreated). It relatively early to mature variety (+1) and has good resistance to sprouting according to the breeder.
  • A clean variety with one of the highest untreated yields from its good disease package, Septoria tritic (6.7), mildew (8.2), yellow rust (9.0) and brown rust (5.3). The breeder claims that it offers broader genetic diversity against Septoria tritici. Moderately susceptible to fusarium ear blight and not resistant to orange wheat blossom midge.
