Fitzroy

Breeder: Secobra, France, UK Agent: Agrii Breeder PDF
Type: Hard Feed Pedigree: Evolution x Stigg

Variety Positioning

  • A new hard feed variety that has performed very well in Agrii’s trials over the past two years with high yields (105% treated, 97% untreated) and average specific weight (76 kg/hl, National List). It is likely to become a significant variety in the West because of its high Septoria resistance and high untreated yields.
  • Suitable across the UK excluding areas of high sterility risk and it can be grown on both heavy and light soils. Not suitable for early drilling but can be drilled through to the end of January and is an acceptable second wheat choice. Medium height (88 cm) with reasonably stiff straw (7 treated, 6 untreated). Average competitiveness against grassweeds and later maturity (+4).
  • It shows outstanding disease resistance against yellow rust (9.0), brown rust (7.8), Septoria tritici (7.2) and mildew (7.1). Early indications suggest that it is susceptible to fusarium ear blight. Not resistant to orange wheat blossom midge.
