Agrii welcomes DEFRA Agricultural Technologies Strategy
The Government’s recently announced investment of £160m to ensure the UK is a world leader in agricultural science and technology and to deliver sustainable, healthy and affordable food for future generations, has received a ringing endorsement from Agrii.
Speaking after the announcement, Clare Bend, Agrii’s Head of Technology, praised the policy which she views as a significant boost for the agricultural industry, stressing the extent to which it reflects the company’s strong commitment to innovation and technology transfer for arable, horticultural and fruit growers in the UK.
“We are delighted to see such a commitment to this important initiative. We have had a significant involvement with the consultation process and will play a full part in supporting the delivery of this new strategy”.
“Innovation has been strategically positioned at the heart of Agrii since its formation. We invest nearly £2m annually to provide enhanced value to our customers, whether that is through identifying new solutions to existing agronomic problems, or in optimising product or system performance with the overriding objective of improving farm gross margins”.
“A broad-based organisation such as ours is in a strong position to encourage interaction and develop better understanding of the issues affecting all components of the production cycle. We look forward to playing our part in the implementation of this new strategy.”
Mrs Bend will be speaking on the subject at the Westminster Food and Nutrition Forum on 7th November 2013.
