12th February 2015
Event opening times 9am until 4pm
Agrii would like to invite you to attend our Northern Farming Conference at Bishop Burton College on 12th February 2015. The Conference hosts a large number of machinery, chemical and fertiliser partners within the Equine Arena at the college, and there will be seminars, trade stands, exhibits and machinery on show.
Seminar sessions will run through the day, with a morning session from 10.00am – 11.45am and an afternoon session from 1.30pm – 3.15pm (the same session is repeated in the morning and afternoon). Speakers include Guy Gagen, Chief Arable Adviser at the National Farmers’ Union, who will speak on progress on GM in Europe, and will also give an update on CAP Reform. Guy has been the NFU’s national policy lead for cereals, oilseeds and protein crops sector advice to members, staff, officeholders and directors since 2005. His main activities include lobbying on legislative and commercial issues affecting farming businesses. Also speaking will be Tom Eaton, Senior Milling Wheat Trader for Glencore UK. Tom’s talk will focus on current wheat markets and challenges for the rest of this marketing year. He will consider the opportunities both now and in to next year’s harvest, together with values and market drivers. Wheat will be his main focus, but he’ll also discuss other crop market factors affecting barley, OSR, oats and pulses. The final speaker will be Colin Lloyd, Agrii’s head of agronomy. Colin is responsible for heading up Agrii’s unique blackgrass research site, as well as the practical interpretation of varietal performance in all parts of the UK. He’ll be giving an update on Agrii’s blackgrass and rotational research.
It’s free to attend the Conference, and to park, and refreshments will be provided throughout the day.
