15t/ha Challenge Update

The continued cold weather inhibits growth and development of the 15t challenge crop.

Despite the best plans to use growth regulators in combination with nutrition and bio stimulants to manipulate the crop canopy, the application of these plans has not been possible. Temperatures have remained close to zero degrees with frosts on most evenings, recent soil temperature measurements are reading temperatures as low as two degrees in the Salisbury area.

We now find ourselves in the last week of March so we have abandoned our plans to apply this ‘pre T0’ mixture and our attention instead turns to the more traditional T0 timing. Here’s hoping for a rapid improvement in temperatures and the weather going forward into the spring.

For more information, the progress of the 15t challenge crop is being reported throughout the season in the Arable Farmer magazine.
