Sonido (thiacloprid) is the approved product for wireworm control in maize. ✚ It cannot be co-treated with Mesurol (methiocarb) so we use the fungicides Korit and Thiram as substitutes. These are both registered as repellents and have proved successful. ✚ Other options to be considered: – Use Take Off® to encourage rapid establishment of crops to enable them to grow away from damage. – Plough in the spring to disturb the wireworm. – Increase seed rates to compensate for expected plant loss. – Rotation: some crops seem unpalatable to wireworm although we need to do more trials work in this area. Turn your maize into more milk. WG Start forage maize off with Sonido seed treatment and it’ll provide the starch and nutrition you need to boost your milk production. Sonido keeps the crop healthy by protecting against wireworm. Talk to your advisor or visit MaisTer WG contains foramsulfuron + iodosulfuron-methyl-sodium + isoxadifen-ethyl. Crop protection: Maize wireworm control Crop protection: Maize wireworm control Maize establishment: Gro-Max Poly ✚ Helping to maximise yields alongside increased starch/energy content by creating an enhanced microclimate of additional heat units alongside moisture retention. ✚ Helping protect against adverse weather conditions. ✚ Specialist blend of polymer and additives to achieve degradation of the material at key timing during the season. ✚ Targeting degradation in the material buried in the soil as well as the material in view. ✚ Focusing on earlier drilling, dramatically increased plant maturity, earlier harvest. ✚ Fits various types of industry-standard machinery. ✚ Creating a genuine choice in the industry. WHICH CROPS WILL BENEFIT? Establishment is the most critical phase of growing maize. The crop produces similar biomass to wheat but in only half the time. The ability and time to compensate is therefore low. Use Gro-Max Poly when working in marginal areas where open crops can be unviable. Maize can be drilled much earlier under film. Gro-Max Gro-Maize Poly will enable you to grow more energy each season because it exposes the crop to more of the beneficial photo radiation by starting the growth earlier in the spring. This energy can be used to produce silage maize in difficult sites throughout marginal areas, to grow normal maize crop but allowing earlier harvest or mature the grain for crimping.
